HC Deb 24 March 1932 vol 263 c1184
19. Mr. JOEL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he can now make any statement with regard to the present position of the Hoover moratorium proposals?

Major ELLIOT

A resolution was adopted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States in December last to authorise the postponement of amounts payable to the United States from foreign Governments during the year ending 30th June, 1932, and their repayment over a 10-year period beginning 1st July, 1933. A similar postponement of intergovernmental debts due to Governments other than the United States was effected by the Protocols signed at London on 11th August, 1931 (published as Command Paper 3947).
