HC Deb 22 March 1932 vol 263 cc863-4
39. Mr. CROSSLEY

asked the Minister of Labour if he will give the number of employed persons in the area served by the Oldham Employment Exchange on 15th September, 1931, and the latest available figure?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. R. S. Hudson)

Statistics of the numbers of insured persons in employment are not available in respect of particular areas within Great Britain, and I regret that I am, therefore, unable to give the information desired.

40. Mr. CROSSLEY

asked the Minister of Labour how many married women were registered at the Oldham Employment Exchange on 15th September, 1931, and the latest figure; and, if there is a decrease, what percentage of that decrease is represented by reabsorption into industry?

Mr. HUDSON

At 14th September, 1931, the number of married women on the register of the Oldham Employment Exchange was approximately 3,980. At 25th January, 1932, the latest date for which figures are available, the corresponding total was 1,973. I am unable to say what percentage of this decrease was due to reabsorption into industry.
