HC Deb 22 March 1932 vol 263 cc859-60
27. Mr. MACPHERSON

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has now given consideration to the protests made by and on behalf of the Scottish burghs against the provisions of the Town and Country Planning Bill which place a further limitation on their status and powers; and what action he proposes to take?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Mr. Skelton)

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As the result of a meeting which my right hon. Friend has had with representatives of the Convention of Royal Burghs, he is hopeful that it may be possible by means of certain Amendments to make the Bill more acceptable to the small burghs than it is at present. The precise wording of the Amendments is still under consideration.
