HC Deb 21 March 1932 vol 263 c704
44. Lieut.-Colonel APPLIN

(for Sir NICHOLAS GRATTAN-DOYLE) asked the First Commissioner of Works whether he will issue instructions that no Russian timber is to be used in any contracts governed by his Department?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

I am at present considering the extent to which Russian and other foreign timber is used in Office of Works contracts, in connection with proposals which would have the effect of limiting as far as possible the soft wood used, to Empire products.
