HC Deb 17 March 1932 vol 263 cc460-1
20. Mr. CLARKE

(for Captain HAROLD BALFOUR) asked the Home Secretary if his Department can now find use for the whole of Maidstone Prison; and if any request from the Kent County Council to be relieved of their undertaking to purchase this building will have the sympathetic consideration of the Home Office?

Sir H. SAMUEL

So far as my Department is concerned the position remains as explained in the reply which I gave to a question on this subject by the hon. Member for the Chislehurst Division on the 3rd March. If any further representations are made by the Kent County Council, they would of course receive careful and sympathetic consideration.
