HC Deb 16 March 1932 vol 263 cc269-70
33. Sir WILFRID SUGDEN

asked the Minister of Transport if he is aware of the amount of commercial traffic passing over the Temple Mills Bridge, Ruckholt Road, Leyton; and, in view of the resulting danger, what steps he is taking to protect the passing public?

Mr. PYBUS

I am aware of the substantial volume of traffic using this bridge, and some time ago an improvement was effected in the lighting. Negotiations have taken place with a view to the erection of a new bridge, but, owing to the need for economy, it has been necessary to defer the scheme.

Sir W. SUGDEN

In the meantime, will the hon. Gentleman make sure that the present bridge is made passably usable?

Mr. PYBUS

In view of the hon. Member's suggestion, I will look into the matter again.
