asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether it is now intended to take any steps to implement the recommendations made by the committee of investigation into the West Indian sugar industry?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

The position of the sugar industry in the Colonies is engaging the attention of His Majesty's Government. Steps have already been taken, in some cases with assistance from the Colonial Development Fund, to carry out ninny of the subsidiary measures recommended by the Commission involving action by His Majesty's Government.
