HC Deb 09 March 1932 vol 262 c1788
36. Mr. PARKINSON

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the number of accidents caused by skidding immediately following a slight rainfall on arterial and other roads, he will take steps with the local authorities to secure that all roads are treated with some form of anti-skid surfacing?

Mr. PYBUS

I am fully aware of the danger to which the hon. Member refers. A circular, of which I am sending the hon. Member a copy, was issued by my Department to highway authorities in March, 1929, suggesting certain methods of surface treatment for the purpose of minimising skidding. My information is that there has been a substantial decrease in the number of accidents attributable to slippery road surfaces.
