Mr. THORNEasked the Minister of Health the number of poisoning cases which have been proved to be attributable to foodstuffs wrapped in tin or lead foil; and whether he will consider the advisability of issuing an order for the immediate wrapping of foodstuffs to be either greaseproof or cellophane?
§ Mr. ERNEST BROWNApart from one unverified case in which poisoning was suggested, my right hon. Friend has no information that wrappers of tin or lead foil have been the cause of food poisoning. In these circumstances, he would not be justified in making such an order as is suggested.
