HC Deb 07 March 1932 vol 262 cc1468-9
61. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many postal employés have been appointed to fill clerical vacancies in the Customs and Excise Department?

Major ELLIOT

Twenty-one clerical officers have been transferred from the Post Office to the Customs and Excise Department in connection with new work arising out of the Import Duties Act, 1932.

Mr. McENTEE

Is it not the case that there is still a redundant staff at the Post Office? Is it proposed to transfer any of them?

Major ELLIOT

I must have notice of that question.
