HC Deb 03 March 1932 vol 262 c1268
60. Major the Marquess of TITCHFIELD

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether the Government have taken measures to stop the avoidance of paying correct ad valorem duties under the McKenna Act by firms abroad with subsidiaries in this country; and what steps have been taken?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Major Elliot)

As regards the first part of the question, I can add nothing to the answer which I gave my Noble Friend on the 24th November last. As regards the second part, it would not be in the public interest to give particulars of whatever steps are taken, but the matter is not being lost sight of.
