asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if the office of president of the Moslem Supreme (Shari's) council in Palestine is to be excluded from the electoral test at the forthcoming election for the Moslem Supreme Council; and, if so, will he state the reason?

The High Commissioner for Palestine is at present in consultation with representative Moslems On the question of the amendment of the Supreme Council Electoral Regulations with a view to facilitating the election of a new council. Until the result of these discussions is known I am unable to say whether the office of president will be affected.
