§ 10. Mr. REMERasked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he has appointed any delegates to represent the British film industry at the Empire Economic Conference; and, if so, will he state the names of the persons selected?
Mr. THOMASAs I have intimated on previous occasions, the United Kingdom delegation will be assisted by the industrial advisers whose names have been announced, and it is open to any trade to lay its views before these advisers and to decide in consultation with them whether it needs to be specially represented at Ottawa. The hon. Member will no doubt have seen the reports in the Press which indicate that representatives of the film industry will in fact be present in Ottawa during the Conference.
§ Mr. REMERIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that one of those representatives, Mr. Oscar, is not a British naturalised subject?
Mr. THOMASI do not know anything about the nationality of any of them, but I assume that those engaged in the British industry will be as interested in protecting their industry as the hon. Member?
§ Mr. REMERIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that Gaumont Pictures is entirely controlled by American capital?
