HC Deb 27 June 1932 vol 267 cc1474-5
53. Mr. ALAN TODD

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been drawn to the amount of noise made by motor vehicles using the Chelsea Embankment; and what steps he proposes to take to stop this nuisance?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Stanley)

Chelsea Embankment carries a large volume of traffic during the day and night, including a number of heavily laden vehicles, and in consequence a cer- tain amount of noise is inevitable. Police officers are specially employed there from time to time for the purpose of detecting traffic offences, including cases of excessive noise, and in the 12 months to 31st March last, over 100 cases of excessive noise were dealt with, most of them by prosecution.
