HC Deb 27 June 1932 vol 267 c1476
59. Mr. ALAN TODD

asked the Minister of Transport what amount of interest was paid out of capital by the Central Electricity Board up to 31st December, 1931; and what amount it is anticipated will be paid during the present year?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Pybus)

The published accounts of the Central Electricity Board show that the amount of interest paid out of capital up to 31st December, 1931, including interest accrued, was £769,650 9s. 6d., I have no information as to the amount likely to be paid during the year ending 31st December next.

Mr. TODD

How much longer are these payments likely to continue?

Mr. PYBUS

The period during which the payment of interest out of capital may continue is governed by the Electricity Supply Act of 1926.

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

When does the Minister of Transport expect the revenue to equal the interest payments?

Mr. PYBUS

That is surely another question.
