§ 66. Mr. BURNETTasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether 1261 he has yet received a report from His Majesty's Chargé d'Affaires as to the cessation of the boycott and anti-Japanese agitation in Shanghai; and whether he has any statement to make?
§ Mr. EDENMy information is that the anti-Japanese agitation has recently diminished though sporadic unofficial attempts to keep up the agitation still occur. The boycott is also steadily diminishing. Japanese firms in Shanghai are resuming business, and official Japanese reports show a gradual increase in trade with China.
