HC Deb 22 June 1932 vol 267 cc1087-8
24. Mr. DUCKWORTH

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether any offers to purchase have been received in the case of the recently closed mechanican transport repair depot at Harlescott, Shrewsbury; and, if so, how many have been refused and how many are still under consideration?

Sir P. SASSOON

It would not be in accordance with custom or in the public interest to disclose any details relating to the current negotiations for the sale of this depot. My hon. Friend may rest assured that the Air Ministry is giving close attention to the matter.

Mr. DUCKWORTH

Does the Under-Secretary fully appreciate the severe loss caused to the town of Shrewsbury by the closing of this depot and the urgency of getting this valuable site utilised for some other purpose at the earliest possible moment?

Sir P. SASSOON

Yes. We fully realise that.
