§ 27. Mr. N. MACLEANasked the Minister of Transport whether he is taking any further action to diminish the burden on voluntary hospitals as the result of motor accidents?
§ The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Pybus)I would refer the hon. Member to the answer which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for North Lanarkshire (Mr. Anstruther-Gray) on 15th June.
§ Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAYIn view of the financial straits, will the right hon. Gentleman at least make some inquiries into a possible solution of this problem?
§ Mr. PYBUSThis problem has been carefully considered, and while I fully sympathise with the desire of the hospital authorities, I may remand the House that during the passage of the Act it was pointed out that an Amendment moved to Section 36 was unlikely to achieve the result required.
§ Mr. MACQUISTENCannot the right hon. Gentleman consider the holding of a sweepstake as they do in Ireland?
