HC Deb 16 June 1932 vol 267 cc512-3
8. Lieut.-Colonel APPLIN

asked the President of the Board of Education, whether he is aware that under the Hadow Committee scheme all children under 11 years of age at the Eckington Elementary School, Worcestershire, are now sent to Bredon post primary school, at a cost of £126 a year; and if he can give the number of teachers, and their salaries, employed to teach these children, and the total cost per child a year?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Ramsbotham)

As a result of a recent reorganisation of schools in. the area the children over (not under) 11 years of age previously attending the Eckington School are now being conveyed to a senior school at Bredon. The younger children remain at Eckington, where there are now three teachers employed as compared with four a year ago, at salaries amounting to £588 per annum, or approximately £ll 15s. per child.
