HC Deb 15 June 1932 vol 267 c386
26. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the inconvenience caused by the present working of the ferry services at Burnt Island and Queensferry, he will inquire into the matter with a view to improving the service?

Mr. PYBUS

I have no power to require persons responsible for working ferries to improve their services, but if nay hon. Friend will furnish me with full particulars of his complaint I will bring it to the notice of the undertakers concerned.

Mr. ALBERT RUSSELL

Can the Minister state whether he has power to inquire into the rates charged to the public by these ferries, seeing that they are generally considered to be unnecessarily high?

Mr. PYBUS

I think that is another question.

Mr. GUY

If circumstances permit, does not the Minister agree that the real solution of the problem would be a road bridge across the Forth?

Mr. PYBUS

Yes, I think that would be the best solution.

Mr. MACQUISTEN

In view of the development of the aeroplane, would it be wise to spend more money on road bridges?
