Proposals to appoint stands for a large number of motor coaches on the Marine Parade were strongly opposed by the Chief Constable of Lancashire, who is responsible for the regulation and control of traffic in the town. I therefore felt unable to confirm the Order. I understand that the town council have recently been in negotiation with the motor coach proprietors, and if fresh proposals were submitted to me, I should, of course, review the position and, if necessary, hold a local inquiry.
