asked the Minister of Health if he can state the total indebtedness of the local authorities in England and Wales on 31st March, 1032, or for the latest available date, showing separately the amount in respect of housing and revenue-producing undertakings, respectively?

The outstanding debt of local authorities in England and Wales on the 31st March, 1930 (the latest date for which figures are available), after deducting sums standing to the credit of the sinking funds for redemption of debt, was £1,157,900,000. This amount included £439,400,000 in respect of housing and small dwellings acquisition and £422,900,000 in respect of revenue producing undertakings.
