§ 47. Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONESasked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury the average annual cost for the past three-years of printing the Division lists for each day in the Votes and Proceedings of the House of Commons?
§ Major ELLIOTThe average annual cost for the past three Sessions, namely, 1928–29, 1929–30 and 1930–31 of printing the Division lists for each day in the Votes and Proceedings of the House of Commons was £1,800.
§ Mr. LLEWELLYN-JONESDoes my right hon. and gallant Friend realise that each day this information is duplicated, appearing in the Votes and also in a more permanent form in the OFFICIAL REPORT; and, whether, having regard to the huge cost incurred, he will, in the interests of economy, consider the question of not printing the Division lists in the Votes?
§ Major ELLIOTThat is, of course, a matter for the House. I understand that a Select Committee is now inquiring into these printing costs.
§ Sir JOHN WARDLAW-MILNEWill my right hon. and gallant Friend consider the desirability of recommending that the Division lists should not be printed at all?
