HC Deb 06 June 1932 vol 266 cc1565-6
1. Sir JOHN WARDLAW-MILNE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he will give the House the latest information he has as to the situation in India?

2. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary of State for India if he will give the House the latest information regarding the political situation in India?

The SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Sir Samuel Hoare)

Perhaps my hon. Friend the Member for Kidderminster (Sir J. Wardlaw-Milne) will allow me to offer him my congratulations. During the past week attempts were made by Congress to hold conferences in several places. The other main feature of civil disobedience activity has been the distribution of seditious pamphlets. In Bombay City communal rioting has ceased but feeling is still very tense. The total casualties to midnight of the 3rd June numbered 171 killed and 1,908 injured.
