HC Deb 02 June 1932 vol 266 c1301
7. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether any legislation is to be introduced this Session in connection with the Report of the Royal Commission on Licensing Laws (England and Wales)?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir Herbert Samuel)

As the hon. Member will no doubt have anticipated, the answer is in the negative.

Viscountess ASTOR

Does not the right hon. Gentleman think that this Commission was set up because the Labour Government was frightened of the drink question; and is there any more chance of the present Government being bolder than the Labour Government?

Sir H. SAMUEL

In view of the state of legislation this Session, it is obviously impossible.
