§ 36. Mr. T. WILLIAMSasked the Home Secretary if he can state how much capital has been borrowed by the Betting Control Board during the first six months of 1932 for capital expenditure; the source of such loan or loans and the rate of interest charged; and can he state who is guarantor for these loans?
§ Mr. WILLIAMSIs the hon. Gentleman aware that there is a good deal of dissatisfaction with the form in which the accounts are presented to this House, and will he represent to the Betting Control Board that such information as is sought in this question should be provided when the next balance-sheet is prepared?
Mr. STANLEYNo, Sir. When the Estimates were debated I stated the reasons why we thought that some of the questions now asked are not such as would be required from any company and therefore we could not require them from the Betting Control Board.
§ Mr. WILLIAMSIs the hon. Gentleman aware that the accounts presented to Parliament are useless and futile unless such particulars are made available?
Mr. STANLEYNo, Sir; I think that those who are accustomed to read balance-sheets have given to them all the information which one can find in any company's balance-sheet.
