HC Deb 11 July 1932 vol 268 c880
32. Mr. VYVYAN ADAMS

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department to what firm the contract for advertising the British Industries Fair, 1933, has been given?

Mr. JOHN COLVILLE (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

As announced in the Press recently at the time the appointment was made, the contract for advertising the British Industries Fair, 1933, has been given to the Dorland Advertising Company, Limited.

Mr. ADAMS

Is not that an American firm or a firm at least that is controlled by Americans; and if that be conceded is it not somewhat impolitic to allow the British Industries Fair to be advertised by a firm which is virtually foreign?

Mr. COLVILLE

I think my hon. Friend is mistaken. The contract was fixed after consultation with the Publicity Committee of the Fair, which is representative of all sections.
