HC Deb 11 July 1932 vol 268 c901
57. Mr. PERKINS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether his attention has been drawn to the forthcoming attempt by a British airman to fly the Atlantic both ways in the near future in g. light aeroplane; and whether it is the policy of his Department to encourage this flight?

Sir P. SASSOON

I have seen an article in the Press regarding such a flight. Broadly speaking, the policy adopted towards long distance flights undertaken by individual pilots is to leave these activities unrestricted. The Air Ministry however must not be understood as giving encouragement to the flight now in question.
