HC Deb 06 July 1932 vol 268 cc587-8

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Lords Amendments be considered forthwith."—[The Solicitor-General for Scotland.]

Mr. BUCHANAN

I do not know what the Amendments are, and this is the first time that we have had Notice that these were going to be taken.

The SOLICITOR-GENERAL for SCOTLAND (Mr. Normand)

These Amendments are of the most formal kind. They affect in no way any of the principles considered and accepted in this House, and they are purely drafting Amendments.

Mr. MAXTON

At what part on the Order Paper does this appear?

Mr. SPEAKER

This particular Order is not on the Order Paper, but it is quite an ordinary thing to take these matters that are not controversial without their being on the Order Paper.

Mr. BUCHANAN

The Government should have given us some formal notice of it.

The remaining Orders were read, and postponed.

It being after half-past Eleven of the clock, Mr. SPEAKER adjourned the House, without Question put, pursuant to the Standing Order.

Adjourned at Twenty-three Minutes before Twelve o'Clock.
