HC Deb 06 July 1932 vol 268 cc437-8
47. Mr. ANSTRUTHER-GRAY

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he can make any statement regarding the proposed alterations in the uniform and equipment of the Army?

Captain AUSTIN HUDSON (Lord of the Treasury)

No change in the peacetime dress of the Army is contemplated, but the question of an improved dress and equipment for the soldier on active service or manœuvres is being considered by a committee with the special object of reducing the total weight at present carried. An early decision is not to be expected in view of the experiments involved and the financial and other considerations.
