§ 64. Mr. MANDERasked the Secretary of State for India what procedure the Government proposes to adopt with regard to the setting up of a constitution for Burma?
§ Sir VICTOR WARRENDER (Lord of the Treasury)I have been asked to reply. His Majesty's Government have given careful consideration to this matter; but until the people of Burma have indicated that they desire separation from India and that. a separate constitution will in fact be required for Burma, it would be premature to make any statement as to the procedure which would be followed in that event.
§ Mr. MANDERIs it not intended to deal with the Burma Constitution simultaneously with the Constitution for India as a whole?
§ Mr. HANNONWill the hon. Gentleman consider the propriety of sending my hon. Friend the Member for East Wolverhampton (Mr. Mander) to Burma?
