WILLIAMS (for Major MILNER)asked the Secretary of State for India whether it is the intention of the Government of India to introduce legislation at an early date to give effect to any of the recommendations of the Whitley (Labour) Commission Report and the nature of the proposed legislation?
§ Sir A. LAMBERT WARDBills have already been introduced to give effect to the recommendations of the Commission in regard to recruitment for Assam and the Amendment of the Indian Workmen's Compensation Act. The Government of India are also consulting the provincial Governments on the text of a draft Bill to amend the Indian Factories Act.
