§ Mr. RUNCIMAN: Iwould refer my hon. Friend to the article by Sir Robert Kindersley, published in the "Economic Journal" for September, 1931, and to the article dealing with the balance of trade which will appear in the "Board of Trade Journal" on 18th February. The total nominal amount of British capital invested abroad was estimated by Sir Robert Kindersley at about £3,738 million in 1929. Separate estimates have not been published showing investments in British and in foreign countries, but some information on this subject was published in the "Economist" on 25th October, 1930.
