HC Deb 15 February 1932 vol 261 c1277
57. Mr. DAGGAR

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he proposes to take any steps to compensate the members of the crew of His Majesty's Ship "Petersfield," which was wrecked on 12th November, 1931, for loss of clothing, &c., and also for the additional expense incurred in the purchase of food; and whether he proposes to secure their return to this country other than by a convenient service passage?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Lord Stanley)

The ratings of His Majesty's Ship "Petersfield" have already been paid on the station the compensation due to them for loss of clothing, &c. The claims of the officers are under consideration at the Admiralty and, pending settlement, substantial advances have been authorised. No information has been received that any additional expenditure was incurred by the crew in the purchase of food. The crew of "Peters-field" are being absorbed in the complements of other ships on the station.
