HC Deb 15 February 1932 vol 261 c1258
21. Sir ASSHETON POWNALL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs the present position as regards flag discrimination by the Portuguese Government?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir John Simon)

I took the opportunity while in Geneva to discuss this question with the Portuguese Minister for Foreign Affairs and to emphasise the great importance attached to it by His Majesty's Government. Commandant Branco is shortly returning to Lisbon where His Majesty's Ambassador will seek the earliest opportunity of seeing him on the matter.
