§ 26. Mr. HALL-CAINEasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will take an early opportunity of making an official statement in support of the proposals made by the French delegates at the Disarmament Conference at Geneva for armed forces to be placed at the disposal of the League of Nations for use as necessary, in view of the fact that recent events have shown that the influence of the League is weakened by its inability to assert its authority at short notice?
§ Sir J. SIMONIn addressing the Disarmament. Conference at Geneva last Monday, I said that these proposals must be considered by the appropriate organ of the conference. It would, in my view, be out of place for His Majesty's Government to make any present statement in regard to them before their implications have been considered by the conference to which body they are addressed, and in whose deliberations we are taking part.
