HC Deb 09 February 1932 vol 261 c666
78. Major BRAITHWAITE

asked the Home Secretary if he will introduce legislation to allow licensing justices for a petty sessional division to make orders under Section 1 of the Licensing Act, 1921, for fixing different permitted hours for either different days of the week or different periods of the year, for applying to a part only of their licensing district, and for directing that the permitted hours shall end at 10.30 p.m. without such direction having to include the substitution of eight and a-half hours for eight hours as the total of permitted hours?

Sir H. SAMUEL

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave on the 4th February to the hon. Member for the Don Valley (Mr. T. Williams).

Captain HOPE

Does the Home Secretary contemplate any action on the Licensing Report during this Session?

Sir H. SAMUEL

That was exactly the question to which I replied the other day.

Viscountess ASTOR

Does not the Home Secretary think it would be wise to take the advice of the Licensing Commission, seeing the questions that we have in this House?
