HC Deb 09 February 1932 vol 261 cc646-7
39. Mr. BUCHANAN

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he has yet interviewed a deputation from certain friendly societies in Scotland regarding their problem of approved membership; and if he proposes to take any action?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Mr. Skelton)

I met representatives of the societies in question on Friday, the 5th instant, and careful consideration is being given to the representations which they then submitted.

Mr. BUCHANAN

Can the hon. Gentleman state any approximate time that it will take him to give a decision, seeing that the approved societies hold this to be very urgent?

Mr. SKELTON

I think I can say that this matter will probably be considered with regard to legislation.
