HC Deb 09 February 1932 vol 261 c641
27. Sir JOHN HASLAM (for Mr. FLANAGAN)

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that owing to the volume of abnormal imports before the recent orders came into effect it will, in many cases, be impossible to ascertain the effect of these orders for at least nine months; and whether in all such cases he proposes to ensure before modification of an order that a fair trial has been given to its operation after the absorption of the abnormal imports referred to?

Mr. HORE-BELISHA

I would refer the hon. Member to the statement regarding the duties under the Abnormal Importations (Customs Duties) Act made by the Chancellor of the Exchequer on Thursday last.
