asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what provision is being made in Scotland for the provision of allotments for the unemployed; and whether any State assistance is being given?

The Scottish National Union of Allotment Holders and the Society of Friends have framed a scheme for assist- ing unemployed persons in Scotland to obtain and to cultivate allotments, and have issued an appeal for £3,000. The answer to the last part of the question is in the negative.
