HC Deb 21 December 1932 vol 273 c1080
55. Mr. MAXTON

asked the Secretary of State for India the reason why the monthly journal, "United India," published in London, is interfered with by the authorities in India in its transmission to subscribers in India?

Mr. BUTLER

Any interference with copies of the journal, "United India," has no doubt been on the ground that they contained matter, the publication of which constituted an offence under the Indian Penal Code. Authority to detain such literature is provided by the Indian Post Office Act.
