HC Deb 19 December 1932 vol 273 c744
45. Mr. LEVY

asked the Prime Minister if he can now make a statement on the arrangements for holding the proposed World Economic Conference?

Mr. BALDWIN

The Organising Committee of the League of Nations has asked the Preparatory Commission of experts, which re-assembles on 9th January, to prepare an annotated agenda at the earliest possible moment, so that the Organising Committee may at its next meeting in the latter part of January fix a date for the convocation of the Conference.

Commander LOCKER-LAMPSON

Where will the Conference be held?

Mr. BALDWIN

If I understand my own answer aright, I said that the organising committee, at its next meeting in the latter part of January, will fix the date.

Commander LOCKER - LAMPSON

I asked for the place.

Mr. BALDWIN

I beg pardon. So far as I know, it is to be held in London, and I have not heard of any change.

Mr. THORNE

Does that mean that the Conference will be speeded up?

Mr. BALDWIN

Certainly.
