Lord APSLEYasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he has brought the initiation of an Empire broadcasting service by the British Broadcasting Corporation on 19th December to the notice of the different Colonial Govern-ments; and, if not, whether, in view of its value to British residents overseas, he will ask these Governments to issue a public notification of its start and its nature?
§ Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTERMy office has already been in correspondence with a number of Colonies about this service, and I propose to issue a special despatch on the subject, the terms of which are being settled in consultation with the British Broadcasting Corporation and the despatch will be accompanied by a questionnaire prepared by the British Broadcasting Corporation.
