§ 38. Mr. MANDERasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Government's disarmament proposals 187 now include support for a reduction of the unladen weight of military aircraft to the figure of 1,600 kilos, as proposed by a group of eight Powers or, alternatively, to that of 650 kilos, as proposed by Italy?
§ Mr. EDENAs stated by my right hon. Friend in his statement at Geneva on the 17th November His Majesty's Government have included in their proposals, as a practical and immediate measure of disarmament, the limitation of the unladen weight of military aircraft to the lowest figure upon which general agreement can be obtained.
§ Mr. MANDERDo I understand that the Government do riot rule out figures of this kind?
§ Mr. EDENThe hon. Member must understand what the statement contains —" the lowest figure that can be obtained." That must be a matter for negotiation.
