HC Deb 07 December 1932 vol 272 c1596
12. Mr. DAVID ADAMS

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how the emigration of Palestinian arabs to other countries compares now with their pre-War emigration?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

I am afraid I am without the material for making the comparison. I have no particulars regarding emigration from Palestine while it still formed part of the Ottoman Empire.

13. Mr. ADAMS

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the census returns show an increase or a decrease in the arab population in those districts where most progress has been made in Jewish settlement?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

The report on the census of 1931 shows an increase in the non-Jewish population in such sub-districts as those of Jerusalem, Jaffa, Haifa and Tiberias.
