HC Deb 07 December 1932 vol 272 cc1606-7
33. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Minister of Agriculture what expenses have been incurred by the Ministry of Agriculture, to date, in the measures taken to destroy musk rats which have escaped from captivity?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Major Elliot)

The amount of expenditure incurred up to the 30th November was £631, exclusive of salaries and travelling expenses of members of the regular staff of the Ministry.

Mr. LEWIS

Can my right hon. and gallant Friend say to what extent, if at all, this expense will be covered by the value of the skins?

Major ELLIOT

It is hoped to recover about one-third of it this year, and perhaps twice as much next year.
