§ Mr. CLARRYI beg leave to present a petition from the citizens of Newport. The petitioners are grievously affected by the excessive taxation on beer, and respectfully urge upon this Honourable House the necessity of an immediate and substantial reduction in this taxation. The petition is signed by more than 2,000 taxpayers in the borough of Newport.
