HC Deb 01 December 1932 vol 272 c966
8. Mr. REMER

asked the Minister of Labour if his attention has been drawn to the decision of the British Actors' Equity Association that no member of that association should be permitted to work with anyone who is not a member of that association or of an association approved by them; if he is aware that this affects all cinema, circus and stage artistes and employés, and will put many British entertainment artistes out of employment; and what action he proposes to take, in view of Section 3 of the Trades Disputes Act, 1926?

Sir H. BETTERTON

I am not responsible for the administration of Section 3 of the Trade Disputes and Trade Unions Act, 1927. Any offence under that Section would be a matter for the Home Office, but I may point out that the Section deals with picketing and similar action.

Mr. REMER

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the leader of this association is a prominent Communist

Sir H. BETTERTON

No, Sir, I was not aware of that fact.
