HC Deb 28 April 1932 vol 265 cc556-7
22. Mr. PARKINSON

asked the Minister of Health what additional benefits are payable to insured persons in the Navy, Army, and Air Force insurance fund; what is the number of members not serving in the Forces of the Crown; and if their contributions are deducted from their pensions?

Sir H. YOUNG

Additional benefits are payable only to members of the Navy, Army, and Air Force insurance fund who have been discharged from the Forces. The number of such members is about 16,000, and the additional benefits to which they are entitled are:

  • Sickness benefit, 4s. per week.
  • Disablement benefit, 2s. per week.
  • Maternity benefit, 8s.
  • Dental and ophthalmic benefit and medical and surgical appliances.
When such men are in employment weekly contributions are payable by their employers, who are entitled to deduct the employé's portion from his wages. Voluntary contributors may, if they desire, have their contributions deducted from their pensions.
