Sir CHARLES OMANasked the Minister of Transport whether he will invite representatives of the National Safety First Association and the Pedestrians' Association to be members of the Rail and Road Conference with the purpose of ensuring consideration as to the nature and extent of the regulation which, in view of modern developments, should be applied to goods transport by road and by rail; and whether the conference will consider what regulation as to goods transport by road should be made so as to reduce the number of deaths and accidents of both motorists and pedestrians?
§ The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Pybus)While I regret that it is not possible to offer these associations direct representation on the conference in ques- 359 tion, I gladly renew my assurance that all interests concerned will have an opportunity of expressing their views before any action is taken on the findings of the conference.
